Dr. Cheryl Kong

Veterinarian & Owner

Born in Scarborough, Ontario and raised in Hong Kong, Dr. Cheryl Kong received her veterinary degree with commendation from the University of Glasgow. Her career began in Reading, England before she moved to Vancouver in 2016, a city she fell in love with during childhood visits to her grandparents.

Dr. Kong has deep interests in emergency medicine and soft tissue surgery, with additional experience caring for small mammals. She holds certification as a Canine Rehabilitation Therapist (CCRT), inspired by witnessing her beloved yellow lab, Logan, struggle with arthritis and joint pain.

As an owner of Paws on Fraser, Dr. Kong leads with her calm, patient approach, building lasting relationships with pets and their families in the Mount Pleasant and Kensington-Cedar Cottage communities. She's committed to creating a cohesive team of professionals who share her passion for giving animals their healthiest, best life.

When not at the clinic, Dr. Kong enjoys ice hockey, camping, hiking, and skiing. She shares her home with Rolo, her adopted tabby cat. Dr. Kong is a Fear Free Certified Professional, dedicated to reducing stress and anxiety in her patients.

Dr. Loretta Yuen

Veterinarian & Owner

With deep roots in Vancouver, Dr. Yuen completed her education locally, graduating with Honours in Conservation Biology from UBC before earning her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine with Distinction from WCVM. She's remained actively involved in the community, coaching youth sports and volunteering at local schools.

Following graduation, Dr. Yuen quickly returned to Vancouver, where she's practiced for over 20 years, including serving as Medical Director at an established practice. Opening Paws on Fraser represents the fulfillment of a lifelong dream that was put on hold while raising her family.

Her vision centers on providing quality, compassionate care, with particular interests in dentistry and challenging medical cases. Above all, Dr. Yuen values witnessing the joy pets bring to families and building connections with their owners. She aims to make Paws on Fraser a trusted source for personalized veterinary care.

At home, Dr. Yuen cares for three rescued pets – a dog, cat, and rabbit. Her free time includes playing field hockey with the Meralomas, skiing, kayaking, and pickleball. She is a Fear Free Certified Professional, committed to reducing pet anxiety during veterinary visits.

Dr. Trisha Kong

Veterinarian

Dr. Trisha Kong shares more than a family connection with her sister Dr. Cheryl – they both followed similar paths, with Dr. Trisha also earning her veterinary degree with commendation from the University of Glasgow.

Drawn to Vancouver's strong ice hockey culture and proximity to skiing, Dr. Trisha began her practice here in 2015. Her diverse experience spans emergency medicine and busy multi-vet practices. Like her sister, she's also a certified Canine Rehabilitation Therapist (CCRT), bringing particular expertise in surgery, dentistry, and rehabilitation to Paws on Fraser.

Beyond her work at the clinic, Dr. Trisha holds a position at the University of British Columbia overseeing welfare and medical care for research animals. She values making positive impacts on pets' lives and was attracted to Paws on Fraser's culture of building strong connections with both animals and their people.

An enthusiastic ice hockey player, skier, and scuba diver in her free time, Dr. Trisha currently doesn't have pets of her own but treasures her daily interactions with the clinic's patients. She is a Fear Free Certified Professional.

Dr. Jenna Hewitt-Kenda

Raised in North Vancouver's Deep Cove community, Dr. Jenna excelled both academically and athletically, beginning her higher education playing NCAA Division 1 varsity ice hockey at Brown University before transferring to the University of Waterloo. There, she completed her Honours Science degree while captaining the varsity hockey team and earning Academic All-Canadian honours.
